Soon after Jeremy and Sabrina Newberry said, “I do” on this property, they knew they wanted to share their magical wedding venue with other brides and grooms. They literally opened the gates to their home at 2525 Sunset Road in Brentwood and invited people to take advantage of the beautifully landscaped grounds and amazing facilities they created for special days and events.
Spread over the 10-acre level piece of land, the Newberry Estates and Vineyards boasts a more than 7,000-square-foot single-story home with six bedrooms, and five bathrooms built in 2007 with a 4.5-acre front yard vineyard, and an amazing backyard that rivals any five-star resort. Swim up to the bar in the oversize swimming pool, entertain on the sprawling loggia or play on the lush lawns.
Listening to the palm trees rustle in the wind and the waterfall cascading into the spa and pool is one of Sabrina’s favorite parts of the property. “It’s a lot to take in and is relaxing,” she says, and definitely something she says she feels proud of creating with her husband, a former San Francisco 49ers center. They are both Antioch natives and graduates of Antioch High School. He went on to play football at Cal and was drafted by the NFL in 1998. He played seven seasons with the Niners, one with the Oakland Raiders, and one with the San Diego Chargers.
Beyond the private residence bordered by lush landscape and towering palm trees is the separate income-producing special events venue. Popular with local brides and grooms, and featured in last year’s Valentine’s Day edition of Today’s Bride magazine, the gorgeous venue showcases park-like grounds with manicured hedges, pathways lined with white tree roses, rolling lawns, and a tiered fountain. A lake with a fountain and beach entry serves as the picturesque background for the outdoor pavilion or stage on which many a vow has been exchanged between lovestruck couples. Capture romantic sunset photos at the water’s edge or snap the quintessential California wedding portrait in the vineyard where Mourvèdre grapes ripen in the Brentwood sun.
After the vows and ceremony, guests are invited into the 4,712-square-foot grand pavilion/ ballroom for the reception. The room is designed to accommodate as many as 280 guests with bars, catering, photo booth, arched windows, custom lighting, and access to the grounds and patio with fire pit.
There’s still a lot more to the property, however. A 7,200 square-foot shop with two rolling garage doors contains room to park an RV, accommodate a caterers prep station, store banquet tables and chairs and linens in every color of the rainbow, and still leave room for actual automotive building and repairs.
Brides and their bridesmaids receive pre-wedding pampering in the casita, an air-conditioned building overlooking the lake. This venue offers lots of mirrors, counters and seating for everyone to get ready in style.
The men also have their special pre-ceremony 1,800-square-foot gathering space, the man cave, decorated by sports memorabilia, and ideally appointed with a pool table, shuffleboard, video games, and full-length bar with custom bar stools.
The venue has also been popular for wine tasting events and even live concerts with one featuring “Nashville Star” Coffey Anderson and Mary Sarah from “The Voice.”
The grand porte cochere creates a lovely entry into this elegant home with Old World charm, custom arched double-entry door with ornamental ironwork, stone and wide-planked hardwood flooring, smooth finished walls, and soaring coffered ceilings. There is a formal dining room, and a great room that is open to an enormous “family kitchen” and features a wall of custom built-in media cabinetry. The rooms radiate a warm and inviting ambience where comfort is the theme. The home wraps around the backyard space and multiple French doors offer a seamless flow to the enticing outdoors.
There are two wings off the great room and gourmet kitchen that is well appointed with glazed cabinetry, island, granite counters and long breakfast bar illuminated with nine pendant lights. Appliances include a Jenn-Air refrigerator, Viking Professional six-burner range with grill, Gaggenau steamer, GE dishwasher, double GE Monogram ovens and additional refrigerator in the walk-in pantry.
One wing features a generous-size guest suite with dual-sided fireplace, sitting room, and private access to the backyard. There is also the family media room outfitted with a more than 10-foot viewing screen, wine refrigerator and wet bar.
A dedicated office with private access is also off the great room.
Five bedrooms in the opposite wing include the master bedroom with private sitting room, sliders to the backyard, wet bar with microwave, and dual-sided fireplace it shares with the luxurious master bathroom with jetted tub, steam shower, separate his-and-hers vanities, and two walk-in closets.
Additional features include two four-car garages, owned solar panels and two wells.
