Bio of Michael L. Maliner
MICHAEL L. MALINER is a freelance writer and researcher living in New York. He is of Philippine and American descent, and his academic credentials include a Master of Arts degree in music composition from New York University, and the degree of Juris Doctor from the Hofstra University School of Law.

Michael has extensive experience as a researcher and scholarly writer. Recently completed projects include the drafting of model legislation for Arts Management International, an arts advocacy organization based in New York City, and a research project on states' rights in the wake of NAFTA for Prof. Peter J. Spiro of Hofstra Law. In 1994, Michael worked with the Long Island chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union in the development of their Race Relations Seminar. Michael has also researched and written on the topic of encryption and the Clinton administration's ongoing attempts to implement Key Escrow.

In addition to his research experience, Michael is a published author of fiction, essays, and articles on a broad array of topics. He is a regular contributor to Good Times on the topic of jazz, and recently completed an article about the early New York jazz scene which will appear in the premiere issue of City Legacy in January of 1997. His short story "Uncharacteristically Optimistic" recently appeared in the September 1996 issue of the literary magazine My Legacy.

Most recently, Michael founded Maliner Communications, Inc., a Web site design corporation dedicated to realizing the full potential of the World Wide Web as a vehicle for information distribution, self-promotion, and self-expression.
